music

March is music in our schools celebration. Schools across the nation celebrate having a music program in their school. We are very fortunate in our school district to have a music program that starts with preschool and goes all the way through 12th grade. To help us celebrate we are doing a few things at ACPC that includes a special celebration week including music themed dress-up days, a homemade instrument show and tell opportunity, and a special music program presented by 1st grade students at our school. Below is the information sent home to students:

Music in Our Schools Month

During the month of March, across the nation students are celebrating Music in Our Schools Month. For one week in March, we will have special dress-up days to go with a different music themes and decades.

Here are the dress-up days:

·        March 24th—Decades Day- 50s/60s/ 70s

·        March 25th—Decades Day- 80s/90s/Present

·        March 26th—Country Music Day

·        March 27th—Pop/Rock Music Day

·        March 28th—Tie and Tie Dye Day --Music Ties Us Together (1st grade wear clothing for your show on Friday, March 28th as specified by your show announcement sheet)

Note: Students from ACES will also share in our same dress-up days.

Music Class - Besides discussing our different themes for the week, we will also talk about homemade instruments and found sounds. Students are encouraged to design their own instrument, and then bring the instrument to school and share it with their music class. Parents can help.

These instruments can be brought in by the week of March 24th. Please have your student put his/her name and homeroom teacher’s name on the instrument.  This will make it easier to return the instrument after our celebration.

1st Grade Music Program – Our first grade students will be performing in a music revue entitled “My Town, My World” on Friday, March 28th. Each class will perform a special song and then they will all sing a finale song together. The program is at 1:00p.m. More details were included on a previous newsletter for 1st grade students.
