During a “Special-Called” meeting of the Adair County Board of Education, Superintendent Jason Faulkner proposed that the board approve the resurfacing of the existing football field and the installation of an 8-lane synthetic track. Mr. Faulkner informed the board that he has been collaborating with The Motz Group from Cincinnati, Ohio, regarding this project. Motz holds the athletic surface bid through the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative, a group that the school district has been affiliated with for many years.
This upgrade will not only benefit our students but also enhance our entire community. With this improvement, the field will be open for use by youth football leagues, the band, and even the baseball and softball teams for winter practices.
Mr. Faulkner stated, “The addition of the track is something our district has needed for years. Our students are now utilizing the complex at Lindsey Wilson College and are bused there in the evenings for their practices. It will be fantastic to have a facility right on campus.”
The renovation is estimated to cost approximately 1.7 million dollars, with construction potentially starting as soon as this winter with completion anticipated in the spring. This investment underscores the district's commitment to providing top-notch facilities for its students and community. The board's decision to move forward with this project reflects a forward-thinking approach to enhancing student life and promoting physical activity among the youth. Superintendent Faulkner expressed his gratitude to the board for their support and highlighted how the new facility would serve as a hub for sports and community events.
